Education & Credentials
Dr. Panarello received her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University, and is a member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented at national and international conferences, where she has received recognitions for her work.
Training & Experiences
Dr. Panarello completed her pre-doctoral residency at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, where she completed rotations in Chronic Pain, Hematology-Oncology, Preschool Pediatric Psychology, and both inpatient and outpatient Psychiatry. In addition, she received extensive training in complex trauma-focused interventions for youth with emotion regulation difficulties at Batshaw Youth and Family Centres, and has experience working in the Adolescent Medicine and Pediatric Trauma programs at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Together, these experiences enabled Dr. Panarello to refine her skills in the areas of individual, group, and family-based interventions across diverse treatment settings. Dr. Panarello also takes a special interest in conducting comprehensive assessments with children and adolescents. She has received extensive training in the provision of psycho-educational assessments with youth presenting with a variety of learning challenges, complex medical conditions, mental health symptoms, as well as behavioural difficulties. She also developed expertise in trauma assessments, where she works from a caregiver-child attachment framework in order to best support her clients to overcome trauma symptoms so that they can thrive both at home and school.
Current Work
Following her residency, Dr. Panarello was hired at the Montreal Children’s Hospital in the Department of Psychology, where she currently works as a psychologist in the Pediatric Psychiatry Care Program, an inpatient unit providing psychiatric services to youth with severe mental health difficulties, including suicidal thoughts and behaviours. In this role, she conducts suicide risk assessments and provides crisis interventions to hospitalized patients.
At present, Dr. Panarello also works in the private sector, offering psychotherapy services to children, adolescents and young adults presenting with, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, emotion regulation difficulties, perfectionism, and low self-esteem. She uses a variety of evidence-based treatment approaches including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and strongly believes in adapting her approach to meet the individual needs of each client. Dr. Panarello’s primary aim is to provide a warm, non-judgmental environment in which clients can be their authentic and vulnerable selves as she accompanies them along their path towards meaningful change. At the forefront, Dr. Panarello encourages honest and open communication with her clients and strives to support them in stepping out of their comfort zone to improve their well-being and daily functioning.
