Psychosocial Consults

Psychosocial consults are brief assessments that aim to provide clients with the guidance they need to access appropriate resources, services, and community support networks that align with their needs and goals. These may include:
  • Access to Government Benefits: Social workers assist clients in understanding and applying for eligible government benefits and assistance programs. This includes support for financial aid, healthcare coverage, disability benefits, and other essential resources.
  • Community Resources: Social workers help clients access community-based resources that can address various needs, including housing assistance, employment support, legal aid, and educational programs.
  • Social Support Groups and Workshops across public and private healthcare sectors: Social support groups and workshops offer individuals a space to connect with others who share similar experiences or challenges. These groups can be especially beneficial for those coping with various life transitions, chronic conditions, or mental health concerns.
If a client requires mental health support beyond the consultation, social workers may refer them to appropriate mental health professionals, such as psychotherapists or psychologists.

Psychosocial Support

Individual psychosocial support is a person-centered service that is offered by licensed social workers who have extensive training in providing clients with the help they need to navigate difficulties and to improve their quality of life. Psychosocial support can be helpful for a range of personal and social issues, such as mental health concerns, grief and loss, stress, unemployment as well as coping with illness and disability. Social workers aim to understand and address the emotional, psychological, cultural, and social aspects of their clients’ lives so that they can develop individualized intervention plans. These plans focus on enhancing resilience, coping strategies, and problem-solving skills through active listening and open dialogue.
