Education & Credentials

Alexis completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Social Work from McGill University. She is a member of the Order of Social Workers, Family, and Marriage Therapists of Quebec.

Training and Experiences

Throughout her career, Alexis has worked with a diverse clientele in various clinical settings, including hospitals and CLSCs. Her expertise lies in supporting individuals and their families on medical units like Dialysis, Geriatrics, and Emergency Services. Most of her clinical work has been, and continues to be, in the Maternal Child Care Program at St. Mary’s Hospital, where she plays a key role in assisting postpartum women and couples during this transformative life phase. Alexis is skilled at addressing challenges such as mental health concerns, as well as complicated pregnancies and birth experiences. Additionally, Alexis has supervised students pursuing their Master’s degree in Social Work at McGill University and spent over a decade as a consultant for Erickson Resource Group, conducting capacity assessments for people with cognitive impairments to ensure their personal welfare and property protection.

Current Work

Alexis’ specialties extend to those experiencing perinatal loss and bereavement. She has been a comforting presence for numerous parents who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child, creating a safe and supportive space for her clients to process their emotions, explore coping mechanisms, and find ways to honor the memory of their child. To honor their grief and offer solace, Alexis thoughtfully coordinates and leads an annual memorial service. Through her professional and dedicated approach, she creates a therapeutic space for parents to find comfort during this challenging journey of healing and recovery. Alexis also shares her knowledge and expertise by delivering presentations at nursing conferences and to nurses in training on the Obstetrics Unit, guiding them on supporting families through perinatal loss.

Known for her warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach, Alexis creates a safe and supportive space for her clients, utilizing an integrative approach that draws from cognitive behavior therapy, compassion-focused therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, and solution-focused therapy. With a firm belief in the potential for individuals to achieve a sense of peace, psychological flexibility, and overall fulfillment in their lives, Alexis is dedicated to empowering her clients on their journey towards greater wellness.
