Education & Credentials

Dr. Napoleon obtained her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from McGill University, where she also pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Psychiatry and a Ph.D. in School/Applied Child Psychology. She received numerous awards during her studies and her research has been disseminated in national and international conferences, and scientific journals. Her doctoral research showcased her dedication to marginalized populations, specifically examining factors contributing to the adaptive functioning of youth experiencing homelessness in Montreal, reflecting her commitment to understanding and addressing mental health challenges within vulnerable communities. To extend her academic journey, Dr. Napoleon engaged in post-doctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology via multiple sites, including the Université of Montréal.

Training & Experiences

Dr. Napoleon’s clinical experience includes training from various settings. She has experience working with youth with different presenting problems (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, learning disorders, anxiety disorders, etc.) across settings including specialized schools, private practice, and at the Jewish General Hospital. She completed her pre-doctoral residency at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, gaining valuable experience in complex pain, infant feeding disorders, school readiness, trauma, and suicidality. To pursue additional training in the relationship between brain function and behavior, Dr. Napoleon also completed a fellowship in clinical neuropsychology, demonstrating a commitment to gaining practical experience and expertise in the clinical application of neuropsychological principles. In addition to her work in child and adolescent psychology and neuropsychology, Dr. Napoleon has demonstrated her versatility by previously serving as a psychosocial worker in a halfway house for adult criminalized men. In this role, she conducted clinical interventions in conflict resolution, prevention, support, and rehabilitation, illustrating her ability to apply her psychological expertise to diverse settings and populations.

Current Work

In addition to her work as a psychologist at Elevate Psychotherapy and Wellness Clinic, Dr. Napoleon currently serves as a pediatric psychologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, where she specializes in addressing pediatric feeding disorders, traumatology, and providing essential psychological services to youth grappling with severe mental illness.

 

Dr. Napoleon also holds a research position of Co-Director at the McGill Youth Study Team at McGill University. In this capacity, she takes on a leadership role, overseeing and guiding various research projects. Her involvement extends beyond research supervision, as she actively participates in administrative decisions for the research laboratory, contributing to its overall strategic direction and success. Dr. Napoleon’s dual role as a practitioner and research leader highlights her comprehensive approach to psychology, seamlessly integrating clinical expertise with a commitment to advancing knowledge in the field.
