Education & Credentials
Dr. Vanessa Iacono has a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University. She later completed coursework at the University of Montreal and a clinical internship at the Montreal Neuropsychology Center to become certified as a neuropsychologist. Additionally, Dr. Iacono has received specialized training in diagnosing autism spectrum disorders, with a focus on identifying more subtle symptom presentations in neurodiverse women. Throughout her studies, Dr. Iacono’s academic excellence was recognized through several awards and scholarships. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and she has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences.
Training & Experiences
Dr. Iacono’s training and work experiences have spanned across various settings, including pediatric hospitals, elementary schools, private clinics, as well as completing evaluation contracts with First Nations communities and the Department of Youth Protection. Specifically, Dr. Iacono has completed training at Concordia’s Applied Psychology Centre, the Jewish General Hospital, the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf, Batshaw Youth and Family Centre, and a residency at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. After completing her residency, she worked for several years as a clinical psychologist, providing therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety, mood disorders, behavioral challenges, and emotional dysregulation. Additionally, Dr. Iacono has experience as a neuropsychologist, assessing clients across the lifespan – from as young as 18 months old – for reasons such as developmental delays, cognitive decline, head trauma, learning differences, attentional and behavioral challenges, and social-emotional problems.
Current Work
Currently, Dr. Iacono’s focus is on providing neuropsychological and autism evaluations to clients of all ages presenting with issues related to attention, learning, memory, and social-emotional functioning. Dr. Iacono has a special interest in evaluating pediatric populations. She strives to help children get a head start when it comes to understanding and mitigating areas of impairment and orienting them towards the best suited resources and interventions. In her neuropsychological assessment practice, Dr. Iacono integrates knowledge of brain-behaviour relationships to tailor evaluations and recommendations to each individual’s unique needs.
