Training & Experiences

Dr. Ferrar received extensive clinical training in evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment methods during her studies. She completed her predoctoral residency at BC Children’s Hospital, where she received specialized training in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma-related disorders, and psychological challenges related to medical conditions. She also trained in the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry (Pediatric Psychiatry Care Program) at the Montreal Children’s Hospital as well as at Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services. Throughout these experiences, she learned to assess and treat a wide range of psychological difficulties, while tailoring her approach to each individual client.

Current Work

Dr. Ferrar is skilled in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and young adults. Across individual and group therapy formats, she uses cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), and incorporates elements of other approaches, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). She also adopts a Biopsychosocial approach when working with clients, which entails recognizing that their experiences are shaped by the interplay of their biological, psychological and social lives.

Dr. Ferrar is a member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec (OPQ). In addition to working at Elevate Psychotherapy and Wellness Clinic, she is a staff Psychologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital where she works within the multidisciplinary Pediatric Trauma clinic, supporting children and adolescents who have experienced traumatic injuries and providing evidence-based treatment to aid in their recoveries. This includes helping youth cope with chronic pain, manage stress, and overcome trauma-related disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Over the course of her practice, Dr. Ferrar has developed a genuine passion for supporting youth and their families as they overcome challenges and flourish in the process. She continues to seek out additional training in the most up-to-date evidence-based interventions, in order to ensure that she can provide the best possible care to her clients.
