Education & Credentials

Dr. Oren Weiner completed both his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at Concordia University and is a registered member of the Order of Psychologists of Québec (OPQ). His academic journey was distinguished by a strong focus on sleep research, culminating in a doctoral dissertation investigating the role of brain oscillations during sleep in the consolidation of new memories. Throughout his studies, Dr. Weiner received several awards and scholarships in recognition of his academic excellence. His research findings have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international sleep research conferences.

Training & Experiences

Dr. Weiner’s clinical training spans university, hospital, and private practice settings in Montreal, where he provided both individual and group psychotherapy to adults and older adults. He completed his senior practica and pre-doctoral internship within various outpatient and inpatient departments at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). His training included intensive work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, as well as specialized cognitive-behavioural interventions for obsessive-compulsive disorder and insomnia. Dr. Weiner also has experience supporting clients with relationship difficulties, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, internalized homophobia/transphobia, and major life transitions such as approaching parenthood, grief, and loss.

Current Work

Dr. Weiner currently offers individual psychotherapy to adults. His therapeutic approach is fundamentally person-centered, emphasizing the importance of a supportive and empathic relationship to create a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to express themselves, explore their concerns, and experiment with new perspectives. He adopts an integrative and flexible approach, drawing primarily from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, and emotion-focused therapies. A central aim of his practice is to help clients connect with their emotions, values, and motivations, using this self-understanding as a foundation for meaningful and lasting change.
