Education & Credentials

Dr. Amanda Simundic is a psychologist and is a licensed member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec. She holds a Doctorate in Psychology and Master of Arts in Educational Psychology (Human Development) from McGill University. Dr. Simundic has received several awards and scholarships for her academic work, including the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Doctoral Scholarship by the Social Sciences Humanities and Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and a PhD Scholarship from the Fonds de recherche du Québec en société et culture (FRQSC). Her doctoral research centers on self-harm behaviours among youth and emerging adults, as well as the use of mindfulness to improve coping and well-being. Dr. Simundic’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and she has co-led clinical workshops on responding to self-harm in both school and clinical settings.

Training & Experiences

Dr. Simundic has completed her clinical training in diverse environments, including the Psychotic Disorders Program at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, the Adult Psychiatry CBT Service at the Jewish General Hospital, and private practice at the Emotional Health CBT clinic. She has worked within multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive client care. Dr. Simundic’s training includes specialized experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for adults with severe mental health challenges, and further training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), compassion-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches. She has provided both individual and group psychotherapy and has experience with assessment and treatment across a wide range of psychological concerns. Her therapeutic approach is integrative and trauma-informed, tailored to the unique needs of each client.

Current Work

Dr. Simundic offers individual psychotherapy for adults, utilizing evidence-based modalities including CBT, ACT, and DBT. Dr. Simundic integrates mindfulness techniques to help clients foster present-moment awareness, emotion regulation, and self-compassion. She has supported individuals through trauma and emphasizes a collaborative, flexible, and compassionate approach. Dr. Simundic strives to create a safe, empowering space where clients can build resilience, manage difficulties, and reconnect with their emotions to enhance overall well-being and functioning.
