Education & Credentials

Radu is a PhD student in Clinical Psychology at Concordia University, where he also completed a BA Honours in Psychology. His graduate research has been supported by both the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQSC). His research on children’s social and emotional development has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Developmental Psychology and the British Journal of Developmental Psychology. He has also presented his work at national and international conferences and has mentored undergraduate students and co-supervised Honours theses in Concordia University’s Department of Psychology.

Training & Experiences

Radu completed his clinical training at Concordia University’s Applied Psychology Centre under the supervision of licensed psychologists. His training has provided him with experience in child and adolescent assessment and therapy, adult psychotherapy, and psychological and cognitive evaluation. Prior to his clinical training, Radu spent several years as a Research Coordinator in Concordia’s Social Cognitive Development Lab, where he conducted hundreds of individual research sessions with children as part of an international study examining the development of kindness and empathy. This experience taught him the importance of creating a sense of comfort and trust while working within a structured setting—whether with a nervous five-year-old or a young adult. He brings this same emphasis on connection, collaboration, and meeting each client where they are to his clinical work.

Current Work

Radu provides psychological assessment and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and young adults. He takes a strengths-based and developmentally informed approach, considering each client within the broader context of their family, school, relationships, and environment. His clinical work draws primarily from evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and newer acceptance- and mindfulness-based approaches. He aims to create a collaborative therapeutic environment in which clients feel understood and supported while developing practical skills to navigate emotional, behavioural, and interpersonal challenges. Alongside his clinical work, Radu continues to conduct research on the development of empathy and social understanding across childhood. His long-term goal is to contribute to the development of interventions that support young people in building meaningful relationships and becoming caring, connected adults.
