Melanie D’Itri
Postpartum Doula
When I became a mother for the first time, I wasn’t prepared for how overwhelming and intense the postpartum period could feel, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Those early days are full of profound change, and no one is meant to navigate them alone. As a postpartum doula, I offer nurturing, non-judgmental care for the mind, body, and heart after birth. My goal is to support and empower your transition into parenthood by listening deeply, offering gentle, practical guidance, and ensuring you are nourished and rested so your energy can be focused on what matters most: bonding with your baby.

Training & Experiences
Before entering the field of postpartum doula support, Melanie worked for many years as an elementary school teacher. Her own challenging postpartum experience highlighted how many families move through the early weeks after birth feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and unsure. This experience sparked a deep commitment to becoming the kind of support she once needed herself. Postpartum doula work became a natural extension of her strengths, combining her love of teaching, personal experiences, and passion for supporting families through one of life’s most vulnerable transitions.Current Work
Melanie has a private postpartum doula practice supporting new families across the Montreal area. She offers in-home visits that are fully tailored to each family’s needs, values, and unique experience. Her care includes emotional support, space to unpack the birth experience, and evidence-informed guidance on newborn care and feeding, including breastfeeding support. Melanie also supports parents’ physical recovery and rest during the early postpartum period, prepares nourishing meals and snacks, and offers light household assistance to help ease the day-to-day load.
Melanie’s approach centers the wellbeing of the entire household, supporting not only mothers, but also partners and older siblings as everyone adjusts to life with a new baby.
