Compassion-Focused Therapy
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is based on the understanding that we function at our best when we feel cared for and take care of both ourselves and others. The aim of CFT is to help individuals develop a compassionate mindset, leading to improved psychological functioning and overall well-being. In CFT, individuals are taught to cultivate compassion by developing their sensitivity to suffering, finding motivation to alleviate it, and ultimately taking action to do so. Additionally, the therapy helps individuals develop self-compassion by fostering a non-judgmental and caring attitude toward oneself, especially in the face of difficulties or perceived flaws. CFT incorporates various techniques and exercises that promote compassion, such as cognitive restructuring, imagery exercises, and mindfulness practices. Altogether, these techniques help individuals develop a compassionate mindset, enhance their ability to regulate emotions, and build resilience.
