Education & Credentials
Dr. Giorgio received her doctoral degree in School/Applied Child Psychology at McGill University. She also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Honours Psychology from McGill University, where she also pursed a Master’s degree in School/Applied Child Psychology. Throughout her academic career, she has been awarded several prestigious university and federal fellowships, including the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Her doctoral research explored how we perceive and recognize emotions across the lifespan, shedding light on the ways multisensory experiences shape emotional understanding.
Training & Experiences
Dr. Giorgio has presented her work at various local, national, and international conferences and has co-led clinical workshops on key topics such as bullying, emotional regulation, social skills, and on assessment and diagnosis at the Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance (CADDRA) conference. Her ability to translate research into practical strategies has earned her recognition in both academic and clinical spaces.
Dr. Giorgio has completed her clinical training in a variety of settings, including the McGill Psychoeducational and Counselling Clinic, the Lester B. Pearson School Board, and private practice. These diverse experiences have equipped her with the skills to deliver comprehensive mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and caregivers. As a psychology intern, Lisa received specialized training in dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) through a Linehan-Board Certified program at Grey Zone Psychology Wellness. She is also trained in several other interventions, such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), and trauma-informed approaches, providing a well-rounded toolkit to meet her clients’ needs.
Current Work
Dr. Giorgio is licensed psychologist and member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec (OPQ). She is also a member of the psychology team in the Adolescent Medicine Clinic at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Giorgio is a good fit for adolescents and adults who experience anxiety, perfectionism, and emotional dysregulation, and who often hold themselves to exceptionally high standards. Many of her clients are students and adults who feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, self-criticism, or relentless internal pressure. She also provides specialized support to children, adolescents, and adults living with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Her approach is collaborative, structured, and compassionate. Dr. Giorgio prioritizes creating a safe, calm, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood while also being gently supported in making meaningful changes. She helps build flexibility, self-compassion, and effective coping strategies to move toward a more balanced, values-driven, and fulfilling life that’s worth living and sharing with others.
